Dive here with

An outer reef about 10 miles southwest of Key West with ledges, small overhangs and scattered old wreckage. It is a known spawning site for snapper and permit, which brings seasonal fishing protections.

Depth range here is only the NOAA mooring-anchor depths (13-21 ft); the reef edge drops deeper and the deep end is not documented by an authoritative source. Rated intermediate for its distance offshore (~10 mi SW of Key West) and frequent current.

Seasonal rule
FWC seasonal fishing closure at Western Dry Rocks, April 1 - July 31, protecting a multi-species spawning aggregation (permit, mutton and gray snapper); NOAA buoy layer includes six "Western Dry Rocks Closure" buoys. Check current FWC/FKNMS rules before visiting.
